For BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2011 at Salford's MediaCityUK, Elport helped create a bold, screen-led stage set designed to capture the energy of British sport.
Each December, BBC Sports Personality of the Year brings together the biggest names in British sport for one of the broadcaster's highest-profile live events of the year. For the 2011 ceremony at Salford's MediaCityUK studios, the brief called for a stage that felt fresh, dynamic and worthy of the occasion.
Elport contributed to the main stage studio set, built around a bold visual identity intended to reflect the energy and vitality of contemporary British sport, combined with the latest screen technology available at the time.
Behind that visual impact sat a DMX Flex flexible LED strip lighting system, designed and manufactured by Elport dmg and built into the set construction. It gave the production full, touch-button control over colour and lighting levels across every element of the stage, allowing the set to shift mood between award categories, performances and presenter segments.
The result was a stage set that matched the scale of the ceremony itself: energetic, adaptable and built to hold its own on one of the biggest nights in the UK sporting calendar.
