Elport fitted BBC Sport's Doha 2019 World Athletics Championships studio with integrated DMX LED lighting, giving every day's breakfast broadcast a fresh, controllable look.
For the World Athletics Championships in Doha in 2019, BBC Sport needed a studio set that could run reliably for the full length of the event while adapting to the daily demands of live sports broadcasting. The set had to support multiple camera positions and regular changes between shows, and it doubled as BBC's main breakfast presentation base throughout the Championships.
Elport designed and manufactured the lighting solution around its own DMX Flex flexible LED strip product and control system, integrated directly into the set construction. The fully integrated system gave the production team full flexibility over colour and brightness across every lit element, adjustable at the touch of a button to suit different segments and camera setups.
The project is also documented on video, giving a closer look at how the LED lighting system performed within the finished studio environment.
The result was a dependable, adaptable broadcast base that let BBC Sport maintain a consistent on-screen identity across the full run of the Doha Championships, with lighting that could be reshaped instantly rather than rebuilt between shows.
