e.tv South Africa
A sweeping 12m x 3m curved LED video wall forms the dramatic centrepiece of e.tv's new Johannesburg studio, wrapping the space in seamless broadcast-grade video.
e.tv, South Africa's largest independent television channel, wanted its brand-new Johannesburg studio to open with a visual centrepiece bold enough to match the scale of the space — something that would immediately signal a step up for the channel's on-air look.
Elport was asked to design and install a 12m x 3m curved seamless LED video wall, built using 1mm micro-pitch LED technology. Curving the display rather than running it flat lets the wall wrap around the studio space, giving the set a sense of scale and depth that a straight screen can't match, while the seamless construction keeps the image reading as one continuous surface rather than a grid of panels.
The 1mm micro-pitch keeps the picture sharp and clean even under close camera scrutiny, which matters on a wall this size, where any softness or visible pixel structure would be immediately obvious on screen.
The result takes pride of place as the centrepiece of e.tv's new Johannesburg studio — a large-format, curved LED installation that gives the channel a distinctive, unmistakable visual identity and demonstrates Elport's capability at the very fine pixel pitches modern broadcast studios increasingly demand.
