Elport delivered a flexible DMX LED lighting system for BBC Sport's 2018 European Championships studio, letting the set shift look and mood without rebuilding between broadcasts.
BBC Sport's coverage of the 2018 European Championships called for a studio set that could carry the broadcast across the entire event while still adapting from one show to the next. As with any multi-day sporting event, the set needed to support different camera positions and regular set changes without losing its identity on screen.
The same studio also served as BBC's main breakfast presentation set for the duration of the Championships, so consistency and reliability mattered as much as visual flexibility.
Elport built the lighting design around its own DMX Flex flexible LED strip product and control system, designed and manufactured in-house and integrated into the set construction. The fully integrated system gave BBC's production team the ability to change colours and lighting levels across every element at the touch of a button, tailoring the set's look to different segments and camera setups throughout the day.
It meant BBC could present a broadcast set that felt considered and current for every appearance during the Championships, with the flexibility to change pace without a physical rebuild between shows.
