Elport's DMX Flex LED lighting system gave BBC Sport's Rio Olympics studio set the flexibility to run as its main breakfast broadcast base throughout the Games.
For the Rio Olympic Games in 2016, BBC Sport needed a studio set that could carry its coverage for the full duration of the event while adapting to a demanding daily broadcast schedule. The set supported various camera positions and regular changes between shows, and doubled as BBC's main breakfast presentation set throughout the Games.
Elport designed and manufactured the lighting system in-house, built around its own DMX Flex flexible LED strip product and control, and integrated directly into the set construction. The fully integrated system gave the production team the ability to adapt colours and lighting levels across every element at the touch of a button, keeping the set responsive to each day's production requirements.
The result was a broadcast set that let BBC Sport present a consistent, adaptable studio presence across the Rio Olympics, with lighting control that could reshape the set's look without a physical rebuild between shows.
