Elport was among the first companies to bring video LED into television studio design, wrapping The X Factor set in flexible AV Flex LED strip for a striking, screen-integrated look.

Long before video LED became a standard feature of television studio design, Elport was one of the first companies to bring the technology into broadcast sets — and The X Factor was among the earliest shows to use it.

The brief called for a studio set with light and video built into its structure, rather than screens simply placed in front of or behind a conventional set build. Elport's answer was AV Flex, its own flexible video LED strip product, designed and manufactured in-house together with the control system needed to run it.

Because AV Flex is flexible rather than a rigid flat panel, it could be shaped into the physical form of The X Factor set rather than simply added on top of it, letting video and lighting become part of the set's architecture. Elport supplied both the LED strip and its control platform, giving the production a single, purpose-built system rather than off-the-shelf components adapted for broadcast use.

As one of the earliest video-LED studio sets in UK television, The X Factor is a marker of Elport's role in pioneering the shift from static studio lighting to fully integrated LED set design — an approach now standard across major broadcast productions.
